U14 Girls - Bury Rangers v Hampstead - 21/01/2012 (8-3)

Today Bury played host to Hampstead, a bit of a needle match for Bury, taking into account that Hampstead won last time around under skullduggerous circumstances!

On a very windy day, conditions weren’t good for either team.  From the start Hampstead pushed forward looking for an early goal, but Bury weathered the storm and after ten minutes a break by Bury saw Nene score the first goal, 1-0.  Soon after, another shot on goal by Nene was parried by Hampstead’s keeper and bounced towards goal, allowing Megan to tap it home to double the lead 2-0.  Bury were now in control of the game and there were shots by Riley and Abbie that went just wide of the post, then a divine shot  by Tor Hill put Bury 3-0 up.

Hampstead continued to battle and made it 3-1, but Nene struck back for Bury making it 4-1.  Bury were now quite charged up and continued to push forward.  A cross by Tor allowed Nene to hit her hat trick goal making it 5-1 and just before half time a fourth by Nene made it 6-1 to Bury.

The second half started well for Hampstead and after a few chances they scored 6-2.    Manager, Grant made a couple of tactical positional changes and soon enough Bury struck again with good build up play, allowing Abbie to hit home 7-2.

Hampstead got another goal 7-3.  Bury kept pushing and were building well and Riley put the match out of reach for Hamstead with a lovely 25 yard shot  and the match finished at 8-3.

It was a good all round performance from Bury with Christie, Eliza and Chloe strong in defence and Riley and Phoebe creative in midfield.  Megan and Tor were great on the wings, with good tenacious play by Immi, Grace and Rebecca .  Emily made a couple of great saves, but for her outstanding performance, player of the match went to Tor Hill.
