Letchworth v Bury Rangers Reds U14 Girls - 10 December 2011

This week Bury were away to Letchworth.  Bury’s team was quite depleted due to illness and injury and so no substitutes were available, just the straight eleven.

On a frosty morning, the start was delayed until 11 o’clock.  An early corner for Bury saw Sapphire Bennett cross the ball into the area, it deflected off the Letchworth defence and into the back of the net 0-1 to Bury.  As fate would have it, Bury’s next goal was also an own goal by Letchworth 0-2.  Tor Hill then made it 0-3.  Bury hit the bar and had many chances, but at half time the score remained 0-3 to Bury.

Bury were always in control of the match, keeper Emily Irvine pulled off some good saves and Megan Sende was very good on the left wing.  Sapphire struck next 0-4.  Bury then put three players at the back and moved Imogen Palmer forward, this paid off with a goal for Imogen 0-5.  Riley Bennett finished the scoring to make it 0-6 at full time.

Player of the match was Megan Sende.
