U14 Girls - Kempston Rangers V Bury Rangers Reds - 3 December 2011

This week Bury played Kempston away.  Kempston have had a good run of results lately with five straight wins and they started the match full of confidence.  The first ten minutes saw wave after wave of attacks by Kempston which paid off with a nicely struck goal 1-0. Bury had to dig deep as Kempston applied more pressure.  Bury hit them on the break a few times, hit the post; shots were going just wide and had a disallowed goal.  Stand-in keeper Phoebe McMurray saved 3 goal bound chances to keep the score at 1-0 at the end of the first half.

In the second half, Bury were playing down hill and they started well with good movement and passing and they started to dominate the game.  Kempston, now defending up hill, started to wilt and Bury equalised with a goal from Sapphire Bennett.  Bury had another goal disallowed, but shortly after a 30 yard shot from Sapphire hit the back of the net, 1-2 to Bury.   Abbey Bensted struck next to make it 1-3 and then doubled her tally to make the final score 1-4 to Bury.

There were good all round performances from the girls through defence to attack.  Player of the match was Phoebe McMurray.
