postheadericon 02/10/10 Barnet Azzurri 2 Bury Rangers Whites 2

Written by Richard Hook | PDF | Print | E-mail

Thankfully, after recent downpours, sunshine greeted Bury Rangers Whites, as they took on Barnet Azzurri in their second league match. Although Bury started brightly, Barnet took the lead on 2 minutes with almost their first attack. Following this shock, Bury began to get into their stride and strung several fine passing moves together. It was no surprise when they equalised on 10 minutes, with a shot, low into the corner from Natalia. Bury, then, took control of the game and shots from Natalia and Fran went narrowly wide.
On the few attacks that Barnet had, the Bury defence stood firm, ably supported by several saves from their goalkeeper Rachel. Ana secured the lead for Bury, with a long range shot, just before half-time.
It was a different story in the second half, as Barnet started much the stronger side. Bury were hampered by their lack of substitutes, but they fought bravely to keep Barnet at bay. 10 minutes into the second half, Barnet equalised. From thereon in, play became more balanced, as both sides strived for a winner. There were several scares at both ends, but no side was able to produce a winner. In the end, 2-2 was a fair result, as both sides preserved their unbeaten start to the season.
Natalia was named man of the match.
