A rather damp and chilly Sunday saw the Reds finally return to their Presdales home following two years playing at Hartham.

In a goalless first half, Bury were unable to find space to create clear cut openings and on the few occasions that they did, they were denied by some solid defending and confident goalkeeping by the Colts.

The second half followed a similar pattern with the Reds having to work hard to break down a resolute Harpenden team whose spirited efforts stifled the Bury midfield and strikers for much of the time.

Ultimately, it took a deflected strike from Lawrence after 65 minutes to relax the Reds and a crisp drive from the edge of the box by Chris doubled the lead a minute later.

An own goal from a low cross driven in from the right wing by Dan and a penalty confidently tucked away by Curtis completed the scoring.

Not the most convincing performance from the Reds but in the end they got their reward for their perseverance.
