postheadericon Letchworth Eagles v Bury Rangers Blacks

Written by Webmaster | PDF | Print | E-mail

Bury Rangers Blacks latest contest saw them up against a well drilled Letchworth Eagles side.  A slow start enabled Eagles to take an early lead with a well worked goal but Bury Blacks nearly hit back immediately when Oliver’s excellent shot struck the post.  Freddie then went close, forcing the keeper to make a sharp save following a flowing passing move.

George and Archie both worked tirelessly in the midfield making some strong challenges mixed in with some good link up play and Bury Blacks finally made their pressure tell when Freddie broke away and calmly slotted past the advancing keeper with 11 minutes gone.  Sam then kept Bury in the game with an excellent save in the last minute of the half colliding with the post in the process.

The second half got off to the worst possible start with Eagles scoring almost immediately following the restart but Bury Blacks rallied again.  Alex was a rock in the centre of the midfield and was ably assisted by the versatile Oliver.  Going up the hill for the second half proved tricky for Bury but another flowing move saw Sam go close with a shot mid way through the half.  Eagles started to get on top towards the end and Freddie kept us in the game with some fantastic reaction saves.  Dion and Jackson showed great defensive positional sense throughout and some ferocious tackling helped keep The Eagles at bay.

In the last minute our defense was finally breached again making the final score line 3-1 to the Eagles.

Rob and Dicky were very proud of all the players, especially the way they tried to pass the ball throughout the game which resulted in some fantastic play on a difficult surface.
