Cuffley vs Bury Rangers Reds
It was a glorious sunny morning with Cuffley starting the match very brightly.
Bury did well to absorb the initial pressure with Freddie W, who started the game in goal, pulling off a string of fine saves most notably one at his near post.
Bury composed themselves and began to start to playing. Freddie A tried to find space in a packed midfield and played a good ball down the line for Reiss to run onto to.
Cuffley were very well organized and pushed Bury back. Ben was commanding the defence and tackling well at the back and Daniel was working very hard in midfield to stop Cuffley getting through. However,
Cuffley continued to pass the ball well and despite Freddie W getting his fingertips to a low shot, the ball crept over the line for Cuffley’s first goal.
Freddie W then made an excellent save, diving bravely at the forward’s feet. Cuffley scored 2 more quick goals but Bury kept working really hard and listened well to instructions and for the last 10 min of the half Bury were much better and matched Cuffley.
The second half saw Freddie A go in goal and Freddie W out on pitch. Great move and chance fell to Oliver W who shot just wide and Bury grew in confidence.
Joseph was closing down the ball and covering a lot of ground. Reiss was coming into the game, however another great finish from outside the box left Freddie A no chance 4-0 to Cuffley.
Daniel had a good effort saved. Freddie A made a great save to his right and then the chance Bury deserved came, Freddie W running down the line great skill and determination shot to the keeper’s right and into the back of the net.
Oliver also hit the right post late on.
This was a tough game and despite finally losing 6-1, everyone worked really hard and there were some big tackles – Bury will certainly learn from this experience.
