postheadericon 20/11/2011 Garston Ladies Diamonds v Bury Rangers Whites

Written by Richard Hook | PDF | Print | E-mail

Following their excellent win last week, Bury Rangers Whites had a tough away match against Garston. Unlike last week, Bury started strongly and were straight on the attack. They soon took the lead after 3 minutes, when Natalia Fernandez-Vinson followed up the the rebound from her own shot and tucked the ball in the corner. Clever passing moves led to shots from Bethany Warman and Lauren Willis. Emily Hook had a great chance to make it 2-0 but was foiled by the Garston keeper. Garston started to come into the game, but several brave saves from Rachel Janes preserved Bury's lead.

Unfortunately for Bury, Garston equalised after 20 minutes with a speculative long range shot and despite playing the better football, the scores were level at half time.  It was the same story in the second half, as Bury looked much the better side. Several corners almost led to Bury taking the lead. Garston took the lead after 55 minutes with another hopeful cross cum shot. Bury did not let their heads drop and straightaway equalised with a goal from Emily Hook after Natalia's and Lauren's shots were saved.

Bury's defence, led by Franscesca Ingamells, repulsed several attacks, as Garston pressed for a winner. A third long range shot sneaked in at the far post, as Garston took the lead again with fifteen minutes to go. Despite further Bury pressure, shots from Katy Thompson and Emily Hook failed to find the target. An excellent game ended 3-2 to Garston. Natalia Fernandez-Vinson was named man of the match.
