St Albans City 0 - 2 Bury Rangers Girls U10
30/01/10
After last week's positive result in the County Cup, Bury Rangers U10 girls were back in League action on Saturday. On a muddy pitch and playing with a slope in their favour but the low sun in their eyes the Bury girls were unlucky not to take the lead early on when Zoe Mbamalu struck the base of the post with a shot from the edge of the box. They came close again when Danielle Hills drove a fierce shot against the St Albans crossbar. They finaly broke the deadlock when Cathy Dixon chased down a through ball and the unfortunate St Albans goalkeeper's clearance bounced off of Dixon's legs and thundered into the back of the net, much to Dixon's surprise.
In the second half, St Albans City began strongly as they used the slope to their advantage but the Bury defence stood strong and player of the match, goalkeeper Pia Eversley, smoothered any attack that got past her defenders. The Bury girls began to counter attack more often and eventually took control of the game again. From a corner, Amelia Hall picked up a loose ball and with a first time shot struck the crossbar. The ball fell to Danielle Hills who controlled the ball well and then placed the ball into the bottom corner. A well fought victory in tricky conditions against a strong opponent. -
Garston Sharks 3 - 4 Bury Rangers Girls U12
30/01/10
On a bright, cold morning, both teams took time to adapt to the slippery, frozen pitch. Lauren Willis had an early shot well saved. Garston took the lead when a shot hit the crossbar and went in off the Bury goalkeeper Emily Irvine. Despite this setback, the Bury defence of Fran Ingamells and Victoria Moore dealt well with subsequent attacks, aided by several good saves from Emily Irvine. Bury were on level terms with ten minutes to go to halftime, when Lauren Willis scored from distance.. Unfortunately Garston scored straight from the kick off, as Bury momentarily lost concentration.
Bury were straight on the attack in the second half and confusion in the Garston defence led to Lauren Willis scoring direct from a free kick. Midway through the half, Emily Hook made it 3-2, from another free kick, albeit with the aid of a deflection. Bury carried on pushing forward and were unlucky not to increase their lead with shots from Lauren Willis and Natalia Fernandez-Vinson.
More saves from Emily Irvine and crucial interventions from Victoria Moore and Fran Ingamells preserved Bury’s lead. They, however. were powerless to prevent a Garston equalizer, with two minutes to go. Bury did not panic and after a superb through ball from Natalia Fernandez-Vinson, Emily Hook struck the winner with less than a minute to go. Fran Ingamells was named Man of the match for her strong all round performance. -
Bury Ranger U10 Girls 3 - 0 Watford Ladies FC
23/01/10
Bury Rangers U10 Girls reached the final of the League Shield competition thanks to a goal from Cathy Dixon and a brace from Zoe Mbamalu. Bury were dominant throughout the match against Watford Ladies FC but were only able to break the deadlock 5 minutes before half time. A fine display of passing between 5 of the outfield plays split the Watford defence and a well positioned Cathy Dixon beat the Watford keeper in a one v one.
Watford started strongly in the second half and put Bury under pressure but the well marshalled defence held out. A quick break from defence saw Zoe Mbamalu latch onto a right winged cross and she slotted the ball into the back of the net. After the second goal Bury regained control and after numerous unsuccessful attempts on goal, Mbamalu gain took control of a through ball, cut in from the left and beat the goalie at her near post. Girls of the match was jointly awarded to Zoe Mbamalu and Lucy Sende by the ref. -
Bury Rangers U10 Girls 8 - 0 Berkhampsted Raiders
16/01/10
Bury Rangers U10 Girls stormed into the semi-final of the County Cup after overwhelming Berkhampsted Raiders. Bury opened the scoring within 4 minutes of the start of the match and dominated as Danielle Hills with a brace, Molly Steele, Kitty Voss, Alice Crawford, Amelia Hall and player of the match Lucy Sende made it 7-0 at half time. Even so it wasn't all one way traffic and the brave Berkhampsted players never gave up and forced Bury Keeper, Amber Daniels, to make a fantastic save as she drove to her left and pushed the ball past the post.
The second half allowed the Bury coach to play the girls not their normal positions yet they continued to dominate. However, they were only able to add a further goal to their tally. Zoe MBamalu took on two defenders down the left and beat the goalkeeper at her near post. -
Bedwell Rangers 4 - 2 Bury Rangers Girls U12 Whites
16/01/10
On an overcast morning, Bury were glad to be playing again, following their enforced break due to the weather. In a scrappy opening, the only highlight was a shot from Lauren Willis, which went just wide. Bedwell took the lead after 10 minutes with a long range shot and soon increased their lead 5 minutes later. Only several saves from Fran Ingamells kept the score at 2 0. A long shot from Victoria Moore was well saved, as Bury tried their best to get back into the game. More saves from Fran Ingamells meant Bury were only 2 goals behind at halftime. .
The half time team talk from the coaches had an immediate impact upon Bury. They started the second half strongly and pulled a goal back immediately with a hard shot from Lauren Willis. A minute later, it was 2 - 2, when Emily Hook scored with a shot into the corner of Bedwell’s net. A goal mouth scramble brought another fine save from Fran Ingamells. The post also came to Bury’s rescue, as Bedwell responded. A breakaway goal from Bedwell made it 3 - 2 with 10 minutes to go. Gaps started to appear in Bury’s defence as they pressed for an equalizer. Another quick break from Bedwell led to their fourth goal. There was no time for Bury to mount another comeback. Victoria Moore was named Man of the match for her strong all round performance. -
UNDER 12s 7-A-SIDE LEAGUE CUP SEMI FINAL, BURY RANGERS GIRLS REDS v ST. JOSEPHS
16/01/10
Having been knocked out of the County Cup last week Bury girls had no intentions of doing likewise in the League Cup this week when they travelled to Harrow to face St. Josephs.
The match started at a good pace with both teams attacking well during a period of end to end football. Bury then put together an excellent move, crossing the ball across the field deep in their own defence and then a very long ball well into the St. Josephs half was met by Riley Bennett and converted for a 1-0 lead after twelve minutes. Bury continued to push forward, although their opponents were always looking dangerous on the counter attack. With no more goals before the half time whistle Bury left the field with their 1-0 lead intact.
The first few minutes of the second half presented St. Josephs with probably their best two opportunities to level the score. The first was from a well struck free kick which hit the outside of the Bury post and a minute later they were awarded a penalty for handball, which was placed wide of the goal. As has been the case with several of their opponents this season, Bury then began to wear them down and had the vast majority of play for the remainder of the match, with St. Josephs rarely getting out of their own half. Despite this Bury were finding it difficult to convert their chances to goals until Chloe Ring won a determined challenge with a defender and put away their second just a few minutes from the end.
With the score remaining at 2-0 Bury now face Knebworth in the final in April. Bury girl of the match – Charlotte Baron. -
BURY U12 GIRLS REDS v BARNET AZZURRI, HGFPL DIV 1
05/12/09
This match started, as it was to continue, with Bury applying almost constant pressure on their opponents, no doubt inspired by the 10-0 win that they had against them in the County Cup just two weeks earlier. However, they faced a determined defence and Barnet goalkeeper in excellent form. Twice in the first fifteen minutes they were denied by good saves, but Eliza Weeks finally broke the deadlock with a strong shot from outside the Barnet area. Just two minutes later Eliza added her second when a free kick awarded for back passing to the Barnet ‘keeper wasn’t cleared and she found the net from close range. 2-0 to Bury at half time.
Chloe Ring was denied in the first minute of the second half with another good save from the Barnet ‘keeper, but five minutes later, despite getting a hand to it, she couldn’t keep out Chloe’s next attempt, 3-0 to Bury. Barnet put together a few attacking moves, but good ball control, passing and movement off of the ball by Bury resulted in further goals being added by Tor Hill, Eliza Weeks again for her hat trick, and Chloe Ring for her second in the dying minutes to finish the match 6-0.
Bury girl of the match – Grace McLeod. -
BURY U10 GIRLS REDS v GARSTON LADIES, HGFPL DIV 1
05/12/09
A messy game sprung into life when Bury took the lead with an excellent goal in the 14th minute. Molly Steele played a through ball to Danielle Hills on the right wing. Hills in turn crossed low and Alice Crawford was on the back post to slot in first time. However, Garston came back at Bury and in their first and only meaningful attack of the game, they scored with a near post goal.
Bury were soon back on the attack and Garston had their goalkeeper to thank for keeping the score down. A corner from girl of the match, Lucy Sende, produced Bury's second goal from a goal mouth scramble, which was scored by Danielle Hills. The second half continued much as the first with Bury in total control. However, they were only able to add one more goal to their tally, a sweetly struck shot from Zoe Mbamalu. -
BURY U12 GIRLS REDS v GARSTON LADIES DIAMONDS, HGFPL DIV 1
28/11/09
For the second consecutive week Bury put ten goals past their opponents. Phoebe McMurray opened the scoring after just three minutes and added a second two minutes later. Megan Sende was next on target with a well struck shot from outside the Garston area. Further goals in the first half, one from Tor Hill, two from Chloe Ring, one from Riley Bennett and the completion of Phoebe’s hat trick saw Bury leave the field at half time eight goals up.
The Bury manager made a team change for the second half, bringing their goalkeeper, Rachael Janes, into the attack, replacing her in goal with Phoebe McMurray. However, Rachael’s match lasted only a few minutes more due to an ankle injury following a crunching tackle. Garston were the first team to find the net in the second half and strengthened their defence which, despite Bury having the majority of the play, limited their goal avalanche to lust two more in the second half, both courtesy of Tor Hill, completing her hat trick and leaving Bury 10-1 winners.

PANSHANGER v BURY U12 GIRLS WHITES
28/11/09
U12 Whites were away on Saturday to Panshanger
Early pressure from Bury lead to several chances but they came to nothing. Sharp work from Fran averted danger as Panshanger came more into the game. Panshanger hit the post soon after but Bury’s defence was well marshalled by Jess and Victoria. Panshanger started the second half the stronger with woodwork again coming to Bury’s rescue. It came as no surprise when they took the lead after 10 minutes in the second half. Bury came back into it and were unlucky when Emily hit the post. Bury equalised with 15 minutes to go with a well placed shot from Natalia. The game became more open as both sides pressed for a winner . Shots from Natalia and Emily almost won the game for Bury . The game finished all square and the performance was a marked improvement from recent weeks.
Victoria Moore was named girl of the match -
SPURS LADIES U10s v BURY U10 GIRLS (FRIENDLY)
28/11/09
The U10s faced a very good side who have been unchallenged in their league this season.
Despite missing a couple of members of their squad, Bury put up a resilient performance against a well-organised Spurs team who had some very strong players in attack. With excellent saves from Amber in goal and good work in defence, Bury held it to a single goal disadvantage at the break. In midfield the match was even but Bury found it hard to make chances, with two shots just the wrong side of the posts their only reward. Eventually the Spurs pressure told and despite brilliant keeping by Pia, Spurs scored twice near the end to leave the score at 3-0.
A very creditable performance against higher-league opposition. -
Unders 12 Red v Hemel Hempstead Town Youth14/11/09
Bury Girls U12 Reds played host to Hemel Hempstead Town Youth in the quarter final of the league cup on Saturday 14th November and these matches are played seven-a-side with twenty-five minutes each way.
For the first ten minutes of the match play was continually from end to end and it was looking like it could be a close game, going either way, until Riley Bennett put Bury ahead. This inspired the team, who were without three of their regular players, and they grew in confidence from that point on, stringing together some good passes on a slippery pitch and always looking dangerous on the break. Just before half time Tor Hill put a good gross in from the right and Riley was in front of goal to collect it and convert for her second goal of the match.
Bury started the second half where they had finished the first, applying continual pressure on Hemel, which lasted just four minutes before Riley Bennett completed her hat trick for their third, a good left foot shot from left of the Hemel goal. Six minutes later up popped Riley yet again for her fourth and Bury’s last goal of the match to end it 4-0.
Bury girl of the match – Eliza Weeks -
Unders 10 v Bedwell07/11/09
Girls began in rampant form as they took control of their match against Bedwell Rangers straight from the kick off. In the first ten minutes Bury had a number of fine chances only to be denied by the Bedwell goalkeeper, who had an outstanding match. However, the deadlock was broken after 12 minutes when a powerful shot from Zoe Mbamalu could only be parried into the back of the net by the Bedwell keeper's hand. Within a couple of minutes Bury were 2 up as Mbamalu cut in from the left again and slotted the ball into the bottom corner.
Just before the end of the first half, a last ditch block from player of the match Pia Eversley prevented a Bedwell scoring opportunity.
The second half continued in the same manner with Bury dominating possession and Bedwell playing a quick counter attacking game. However, it was Bury that scored again when Alice Crawford controlled a cross from the right wing and calmly shotted the ball home. Danielle Hills made it 4-0 after her determination in the Bedwell box allowed her to score from close range -
Unders 12 Reds v Letchworth Lionesses08/11/09
Bury found this match much more of a challenge than the previous day’s, playing away to Letchworth in the last sixteen of the County Cup, and as such had to field a team of nine as opposed to their seven-a-side league games. In addition to this they had to comply with the offside rule, which is not the case in their league.
Bury started well and had the run of play in the first ten minutes, although Letchworth always looked as though they might be dangerous on the break. However, Bury’s Chloe Ring then fired in a shot which the Letchworth keeper got a hand to, but could not keep out of the net. Bury continued to apply pressure but some good defending by Letchworth denied them until ten minutes from half time when Natalia Fernandez-Vinson increased the lead to 2-0.
The second half was more evenly contested and Letchworth pulled a goal back after ten minutes when the Bury ‘keeper failed to hold on to a shot and the loose ball was put away. Both teams have several more chances and Bury were denied by a strong Letchworth defence and a notable performance by their goalkeeper. However, no more goals were forthcoming, enough to give them a place in the last eight away to Barnet Azzurri on 22nd November -
Unders 12 Reds v Watford Ladies Wasps07/11/09
Bury were at home in this encounter, which provided a glut of goals for the hosts, with no less than five of the team ending up on the score sheet.
Less than a minute had passed when Bury won a corner which resulted in a bit of a goalmouth scrap and Riley Bennett touching the ball over the Watford line for the first. A further eleven minutes then passed before Phoebe McMurray made it 2-0, followed by two more in quick succession from Tor Hill and Chloe Ring. Chloe’s was a fine shot from outside the area and she came close again a minute later when her shot hit the Watford post. Charlotte Baron increased the lead to 5-0 twenty minutes into the match and Chloe Ring saw Bury go off at half time with her second goal and a 6-0 lead.
Ten minutes into the second half it was Chloe again for her hat trick to increase the lead to 7-0 and, not satisfied with that, she put another away to make it four for her and eight for Bury. Charlotte Baron was next to score with her second, followed by a good run the length of the opponents’ half by Tor Hill, tucking the ball away for Bury’s tenth. Shortly before the final whistle Tor found the Watford net again for her hat trick and a final score of 11-0. -
Unders 12 Whites v Hemel Hempstead26/10/09
A rare wet match day saw both teams trying to compensate for the conditions, not easy with the ball zipping along the grass.
Evenly matched, both teams had few sights on goal with Rebecca coping well on her league debit showing good close control and evading tackles in the midfield. As the game moved towards half time chances were increasing, but a penalty was awarded to Hemel on 25 mins which was well converted by No9 broke the deadlock and seemed to buoy the home side from there on.
5 minutes into the second half and Bury were two down, after a quick counter attacking move was finished well by the HH no3.
Bury tried to rally but without any substitutes to call on energy flagged and the opposition pressed home the advantage with a third goal, this time no12 finishing well first time.
It finished 3-0 with Bury having nothing to show for their hard work and at times thoughtful passing and movement -
Unders 12 Whites v Headstone Manor19/10/09
Bury Rangers Girls U12 Whites were away on Saturday to Headstone Manor in the first round of the League Cup.
An early break for Bury and a fine pass from Jessica almost led to a goal. Soon after, there was a scare for Bury when an indirect free kick was harshly awarded for a back pass. The resulting shot was cleared off the line by Izzy. 0-0 remained the score until half time.
Bury maintained the pressure in the second half and took the lead with a precise finish from Natalia. Midway through the half, Headstone fought back and equalised with a quick breakaway goal. The rest of normal time was evenly matched, with Bury maintaining their effort, despite the unavailability of any substitutes. Extra time went from end to end, with chances for both sides. Headstone took the lead with three minutes to go. In the last few seconds, Bury almost equalised, but the shot from Victoria went agonisingly wide.
Jessica Verrant was named man of the match, but the award could have gone to any one of Bury’s players. They can be justifiably proud of their teamwork and effort. -
Unders 10 v St Albans City19/10/09
After a slow start to the match, by both teams, Bury Rangers U10 Girls took control of the match. After 18 minutes, Bury were rewarded for their dominance when Danielle Hills slipped the ball past the St Albans goalkeeper. Soon they were 2-0 up when Zoe Mbamalu's low drive was deflected into the bottom corner by an unfortunate St Alban's defender. Minutes later Zoe Mbamalu made it three with a curling left foot shot into the top corner after a neat run and pass from player of the match Kitty Voss.
Almost straight from the second half kick off, Zoe Mbamalu rounded two defenders before slotting the ball into the back of the St Albans goal. St Albans made life more difficult in the second half but solid defending and reassured goalkeeping from Pia Eversley denied St Albans. Lucy Sende had a direct free kick blocked on the line by a St Albans defender and despite several chances for both sides the score remained 4-0 to Bury. -
Hertfordshire Girls Football Festival12/10/09
Under 12 Reds
This festival was played on a nine-a-side basis with each match lasting ten minutes.
Bury’s first opponents were Barnet Azzuri. The pressure that they had been applying since the start was rewarded after six minutes when Tor Hill scored an almost identical goal to the one which she had against Harvesters a couple of weeks ago, a long ball from outside the Barnet area finding its way through the players and into the net. Four minutes later Megan Sende sent a very good shot high into the opponent’s net and Riley Bennett completed a 3-0 victory for Bury in the last minute.
The next opponents were Garston and this well and evenly contested match ended in a goalless draw.
Next were Hemel Hempstead, a team that Bury knew nothing about, but it took Charlotte Baron just a minute to find the Hemel net. Just three minutes later Riley Bennett claimed her second goal of the festival to end the match 2-0 in Bury’s favour.
Harpenden were the next opponents and this match also ended 2-0 to Bury, with Tor Hill making it 1-0 after four minutes, her second of the festival, and Phoebe McMurray putting the game out of Harpenden’s reach with Bury’s second five minutes later.
The hardest match of the festival turned out to be the fifth and final, with Stevenage as opposition. Stevenage took the lead after eight minutes, but Eliza Weeks ensured that Bury returned home unbeaten in the festival with a very late but deserved equalizer just seconds from the end.

Hertfordshire Girls Football Partnership League 05/10/09
Under 12 Whites
Bury Rangers Girls U12 Whites started their second league match hoping to preserve their unbeaten start to the season. Following some early pressure, Bedwell took the lead on 10 minutes. Their lead was increased after 25 minutes, with a deflected effort. This remained the score until half time. Any hopes of a Bury comeback were dashed by 2 quick goals after the break for Bedwell. It was soon 5-0 with a good shot from the edge of the box. Bury to their credit kept their heads up and more than held their own for the next 15 minutes. Bedwell scored their final goal 5 minutes from the end. Although a heavy defeat, Bury can be pleased with the effort they put into the match.
Natalia Fernandez-Vinson was named man of the match.

Under 12 Reds Friendly v Kempston Oct 09
Under 12 Reds
With no league or cup fixtures scheduled for last weekend Bury played hosts to Kempston in a friendly. The last time that the two teams met was in the Kempston Colts tournament on 6th September, where Bury came out 1-0 victors in the final. Following on from their strong performance and win against Harvesters last week the Bury girls continued their flowing play, stringing passes together well and challenging for just about everything from the start. After ten minutes a shot from Bury’s Tor Hill came off of a defender’s leg and into the Kempston net. Seven minutes later Chloe Ring extended the lead to 2-0 and that’s how it stayed until half time. Just one minute into the second half Kempston intercepted a short throw out from the Bury ‘keeper and took the opportunity to pull a goal back. Despite some good play from both teams and several more chances during the second half neither team found the net again and a well fought match ended 2-1 in Bury’s favour.
Bury girl of the match was awarded to Tor Hill

Under 12 Reds County Cup Oct 09
Under 12 Reds
The Bury Girls U12’s Red compete in their league with 7-a-side, the County Cup is a 9-a-side competition, with a larger pitch and goals than the girls are used to. However, the team were able to create more space and move the ball around fluently in the larger area in what turned out to be an extremely robust performance. Megan Sende put Bury ahead after ten minutes and the lead was extended four minutes later by Phoebe McMurray. Bury were challenging every ball and coming out on top in many of the tackles when Charlotte Baron used her pace to chase a free ball in the Harvester’s penalty area and put it away to make it 3-0. Harvesters pulled one back in the last minute of the first half when a shot hit the inside of the post and crossed the line before Rachael Janes in the Bury goal could reach it.
The Bury pace slowed a little at the beginning of the second half and Harvesters enjoyed one or two moves into the opponent’s area, but this changed again when Tor Hill appeared to cross for Bury but the ball found its way though the defence and into the net to regain the three goal advantage. Just four minutes later Phoebe McMurray was on target again from close range to take it to 5-1. Riley Bennett had a shot stopped by the Harvester’s ‘keeper’s boot, but Phoebe McMurray completed her hat trick four minutes from time. Shortly before the final whistle Megan Sende claimed her second goal to end the game at 7-1.

Hertfordshire Girls Football Partnership League 19/09/09
Under 12 Whites
Bury Rangers Girls U12 Whites opened their season in the Hertfordshire Girls Football Partnership League, 7-a-side Division 2 at home against St. Albans Rangers on 19th September. In a bright first half, possession was equally shared, with both goalkeepers making good saves to keep the score goalless. A succession of corners for St. Albans were stoutly defended by Bury Rangers. St Albans took the lead early in the second half, but Bury Rangers did not let their heads drop. A fine move down the left wing soon led to an equaliser from Natalia Vinson . Bury then went in search of the winner and were rewarded 5 minutes from time with an opportunistic goal, from Emily Hook, following a poor goalkeeping clearance. A fine opening win was rounded off by a solo effort in the last minute from Victoria Moore.
Jessica Verrant was named player of the match

Bury Rangers Girls U12 Reds opened their season in the Hertfordshire Girls Football Partnership League, 7-a-side Division 1 at home against Knebworth Youth Lionesses on 19th September. Both teams had met several times over the past few months and this was always expected to be a close encounter. The first half was evenly fought with both teams pressing forward into the other’s half on several occasions, but chances at goal were few and far between.
This pattern was repeated in the early part of the second half, but Bury gradually appeared the stronger of the two teams, although still unable to find the Knebworth net. The match was looking set for a draw as full time drew closer until the deadlock was broken when Riley Read put Bury ahead with a close range shot six minutes from the end. The lead was almost extended in the last minute of play when Chloe Ring was denied by a good save from the Knebworth ‘keeper.

Under 12s Pre Season Matches Sep 09
Friendly versus Hormead Hares, 5 September
This match was arranged to be played with three twenty minute sessions instead of the usual two thirty minute halves and after a strong attacking start Bury found themselves a goal down after just three minutes. However it took just a further five to pull level with a goal from Riley Read. Seven minutes later Riley found the net again to give Bury the lead and this was extended to 3-1 by Tor Hill in the seventh minute of the second session.
The score was pulled back to 3-2 by Hormead before the end of the second session, but this was again extended to 4-2 for Bury by Megan Sende early in the third after Eliza Weeks had a shot bounce off of the top of the Hormead crossbar. It took the opposition just two minutes to pull back to 4-3, and a final goal just before the final whistle levelled the match at four goals apiece.
Kempston Colts Tournament, 6 September

Camber Sands Tour 22-25/05/09
Bury Girls U11’s travelled to Camber Sands for their inaugural tour over the weekend of 22-25 May and came back more than happy with their efforts and their first trophy in their eighteen months of being together. Unfortunately there were only two girls under 11 teams present and so they faced five games against under 12 opposition in the league stage, with the youngest Bury player only eight years old. However, this did not distract them and they put up strong performances against all teams. In scenes reminiscent of Gulliver's Travels, the Bury Girls entered the land of the giants on Saturday when they took to the field against their first opponents, Senrab FC Girls, however, despite the opposition being much older and stronger they held the score to a respectable 5-0 defeat.
Next in line were Milton & Fulston Utd Girls B, and gaining experience against stronger and faster players held them to an improved 3-0 loss. The only other under 11 team were Knebworth Youth Girls, who were in the same Herts league as Bury last season. Bury had never defeated Knebworth, however, things were to change at Camber and thanks to a goal from Anna Irvine Bury came out 1-0 winners. Following this Bury faced Meridian Girls, again an older and bigger team, but thanks to a penalty saved by Rachael Janes they were held to a 0-0 draw.
Moving on to Sunday the first fixture was against Milton & Fulston Utd Girls A and once again Bury took to the field in the blazing sunshine against an older team who were unable to get the upper hand and another 0-0 draw was fought out. The final league game was against local team Hastings Hawks, who it was heard had not lost a game in three years. Although Bury went down 7-0 it was no disgrace in the face of such strong opposition and they fought all the way to the final whistle.
The cup final for this league was the winners against the runners up, so Bury didn’t feature in the U12 final, but there was a separate cup for the under 11s and so Bury faced Knebworth once again in this. A well fought game failed to produce a goal and so it went to a penalty shoot out. Bury were first to take the spot kick which Anna Irvine converted with a well placed shot. Knebnworth then hit the post with their first effort. Next up for Bury was Megan Sende, only to see her effort saved. Knebworth then pulled level at one each. Bury’s next penalty was taken by Ellie Clarke, which was a totally unstoppable shot. Rachael Janes then saved the next Knebworth effort, and with Grace McLeod converting Bury’s fourth they stood 3-1 up. Another save by Rachael Janes saw the trophy coming home to Hertford.
The Bury Girl of the Tour was goalkeeper Rachael Janes, and all players and parents would like to thank John and Karen Irvine for making the Bury tour arrangements even though John couldn’t attend himself. The Bury Squad in alphabetical order - Ellie Clarke, Emily Hook, Anna Irvine, Emily Irvine, Rachael Janes, Grace McLeod, Imogen Palmer, Lucy Sende, Mrgan Sende, Isobel Smith, Natalia Vinson.

Bury Rangers 2 St Albans Rangers 1 21/02/09
Bury travelled to St. Albans for this match and took the lead after fifteen minutes from a superbly struck free kick by Megan Sende on the edge of the St. Albans area into the top corner of the net. The home side almost equalised three minutes later when their best effort so far struck the Bury upright, but did manage to pull level after a further five minutes. However, it took Emily Hook just a further minute to find the St. Albans net to regain the lead for Bury. With no further goals in a well fought second half Bury have finally secured their second win in the league following a string of very close games.

Bury Rangers 0 Knebworth Youth 1 31/01/09
Bury Rangers Girls Under 11s played hosts to Knebworth Youth this week in what turned out to be a very closely fought contest. Bury had the better of the first half with three good attempts at goal, two of them unfortunately directed directly at the Knebworth ‘keeper, with the third calling for a very good save. The start of the second half saw play even out a little and Knebworth found the net ten minutes into the half. Bury were unable to respond despite several good ventures into the opponent’s half and so it was the visitors who grabbed the points.
